What Should I Expect in a Reiki Session?

A typical Reik session lasts approximately 60 minutes of direct reiki with consultation before and after by the Reiki Practitioner. The initial session is typically longer, and in my practice it is typically 90 minutes, as I always conduct a chakra diagnostic to provide important information to both the client and myself as we begin our work together. Other practitioners may have other ways they gather initial information to best support a client.

During a reiki session, the practitioner will provide focused healing support through non-invasive, focused hand positions that direct the energy to specific areas of the client’s body. Even in person sessions do not require the practitioner to place hands directly on the client’s body. As a practitioner, I both provide direct support to specific areas that have been identified as most in need at the time of the session as well as a fully comprehensive healing.

Most clients experience a deep sense of relaxation throughout the session. At different times, clients may experience heat, coolness, tingling and a lightness as energy releases, shifts and balances. Depending on the practitioner, the entire session may be silent with the client relaxing and the practitioner working quietly, and at other times, the practitioner may feel called to interact with the client for questions and feedback to help facilitate additional releasing and healing that is needed for maximum results.

At the conclusion of each Reiki session, a client should feel relaxed, balanced and/or rejuvenated, and typically all three! Also, the healing that occurs within, has an impact on one's entire life experience!
